4-H Programs, Activities, & Club Meetings for March 2014


Happy March!
 

You can find below information regarding our upcoming club meetings, activities, & events. You are welcome to contact the Giles County Extension Office to sign up/RSVP for any of these activities. We would also be happy to answer any questions!
Upcoming Club Meetings:
  •  Wednesday, March 12- 4-H Teen Leadership Club Meeting. All Giles County teenagers are invited to join our teen only club! Our March. meeting will being at 7pm at the Giles County Extension Office in Pearisburg. Summer Camp Planning (see sidebar) is the main agenda item for this monthly meeting.
  •  Friday, March 14- Newport 4-H Club Meeting. “Children will learn how they can get involved in helpful activities in the community and at home, and will help one another with some very special service projects!” To be held at the Newport Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, beginning at 7pm. [See advertisement below.] 
  • Monday, March 31- Rich Creek 4-H Club Meeting at the Rich Creek Library beginning at 6:30pm. This growing club welcomes new members, youth ages 5-19 and their families. In March members will get their hands dirty with a seed planting activity!
  • Monday, April 7- Narrows Now 4-H Club Meeting. Because of weather we did not meet in February, so that means we will be having our LEGO build activity at our April monthly meeting! We meet at the Narrows Community Center (old high school) at 6:30pm. Come one, come all and build with us!


Important Deadlines to mark on your calendar:
  • Mar 21- CIT and Teen Counselor Application Packets due at the Extension Office- contact us to get yours today! [They are available via the Giles County 4-H blog.]
  • Mar 28- Teen Counselors notified of acceptance
  • Mar 28- Registration for camp training at 4-H Center due at the Extension Office [This is available by calling the Extension Office or attending the March 12th Teen Leadership Club meeting.]
  • Apr 4- 4-H Camp Scholarship Application due at the Extension Office
  • Apr 11- Camp Open House/Registration at the Extension Office (9am-6:30pm)
  • Apr 12- Teen Counselor and Adult Volunteer Training at the 4-H Center
  •  Jun 9- Pre-Camp meeting for all camp participants, parents and guardians. Tentative Location: Pearisburg Community Center Cafeteria

 
     
4-H also has active after-school partnerships that are working in all three primary schools!


  • EEMS has a monthly after-school Robotics Club! (pictured to the left)
  • MMEMS has a weekly Health Rocks & Character Counts after-school group!
  • NEMS has a weekly Child Care (Preparing for Babysitting) group!
